Blah!

We are in cooler weather today!!  I was finally able to plug in our little cooler and see just how well, or not, it would work.  Oh my, it got toasty in here last night.  Of course, I did not let it run while we were asleep.  I know it has a safety feature on it to where if it tips over, it will turn off.  But, just but, what about those times where fires start not by tipping over, but by the wiring?  I know. I know. It is a new unit. The wiring should be good to go.  Oh gosh, I am a worry-wart type of mom. Lol  Just want to keep my guys safe.  We woke up this morning and it was 45 outside. I turned on our little heater full blast and it took about 1.5 hours for it to make it toasty again.  Yup, we were all huddled up under blankets with coffee until then. lol

I am having a very rough day today.  My dad has been on my mind a lot.  On the 14^th, it will be 5 months.  I keep thinking it is all a bad dream or a cruel trick someone is playing on me.  I really want to think he is still alive, but I know he is not.  What makes it so much worse is the way most of his family has and still treat me – or lack of treating me.  Its like I am not my dads child.  I am the forgettable one, the one who is not wanted, needed or loved.  It’s a really tough pill to swallow, especially growing up and thinking that your part of the “in crowd”.  Some days are not as bad as others.  Today has been one of the more rough days that I have been through. I am trying to do things that will keep me  on a more even temperament.  One is by writing this blog.  The other is by keeping busy – like cleaning this messy condo.  I will also try to get my boy to play games with me later, maybe Yahtzee or Clue.  Then it is on to cooking our lunch for dinner.

Speaking of dinner, last night (since hubby was home) we had pasta, carbonara sauce and diced chicken breast.  It was yummo.  I also made pumpkin cornbread that I found at Aldi for $0.30.  We found that they had some really great deals on foods that were seasonal specific to Thanksgiving and Christmas.  We had picked up one of these pumpkin cornbread mixes and since we are starting our Dr Phil 20/20 diet soon, we wanted to go ahead and eat some of these things.  Last night I made the pumpkin cornbread in the crockpot to go with our meal.  I didn’t know what to expect with it.  I was thinking that it was going to have a huge sweet taste, but it was more savory than sweet.  The cornbread came out perfect and looked awesome.  Today, we have had some of it with our lunch and it was still super moist.
