I wanted to do a Flashback Friday to go along with my post from yesterday. My baby just isnt a baby anymore. I looked back at some pictures and just remembered all those little moments.
Of course – I slept through his birth. hehehe Yup, sure did. He was a big ole baby and they had to do c-section for him to be born. 10lbs 2 oz later and we have this precious little baby.
I remember all his little characters that he liked on TV. Since we are flashbacking…. does anyone remember Hong Kong Phoey? Did I spell that right? lol He was my favorite. I remember that when son was 2 yrs old, he would crawl in-between hubby and I early in the morning. I would turn the TV onto the Disney Channel and he LOVED to watch Mickey Mouse Club House.
This is what he looked like when he was about 2. I asked my aunt to take some photos of him and this is one of them. She had the little angel wings (probably still does) and thought they would be perfect. We were at the State Park near the town where we lived at in TN. Thinking back now, maybe she should have had some little horns we could have put on his head too. lol
We moved to the Florida area not long after he turned 3. We both had lived in Florida before he was born. We met in Florida. We moved to the TN area right before he was born. While it is beautiful there – we prefer Florida more. This was taken on a pirate ship tour not long after we first moved back to Florida. It was his first time on a large boat and he was more interested in looking out toward the water than what the “pirates” were doing. lol
We knew then that we had to get him on a bigger ship!!
Our next adventure with him was to take him on the Carnival Sensation. We decided on doing that one since it was a weekend cruise. I did not know if he was going to be able to handle the motion or if he was even going to like it. We lived on the West coast of Florida at the time and this one sailed out of Port Canaveral – on the East coast. We stayed in Orlando the night before and headed out the next morning. Oh the sounds that were coming from the back seat when son saw the ship for the first time. He would just giggle and giggle. We got him all checked in and onto the ship. Had lunch and then brought him up to the top deck so that he could look around. We had a cool day that day and all of us had to wear jeans and sweaters.(It was mid-December and the ship was decorated for Christmas) Look at Mr. Cool laying there like he owns the whole ship!!! This trip is when I was able to get a first hand view of how well Camp Carnival was with our kiddos. He wanted to be at Camp more than he wanted to be with us!! They also had a Christmas program with Camp Carnival and brought son on stage to be part of it.
Little did I realize back then that he was getting his first shot of acting and would want to be on stage MORE. hehehe
Well, thank you for letting me go back in time. I miss my lil man being little! But I LOVE him growing and showing his personality to me. Hubby has received 2 really good phone calls today. I dont want to jinx it just yet, but hopefully soon we will have something to share. Thank you all for reading and have a fantabulous Friday!!
It is going to be kinda quick today. I am trying to get ready, get son ready and get out of here. Son has an audition today for a commercial. Keeping fingers crossed!!
I have been faced with the fact that my little boy is growing up. Yeah, I already knew it…….but I didnt want to face it! I mean, this is the lil guy that I would hold in my arms while he went to sleep. I would do everything for him. I would wash him, change him, feed him.
But he is not a baby anymore and hasnt been for a long time. Of course, like I said, I knew this. He has grown so much in the past year. It was almost like one morning we woke up and his clothes no longer fit him.
So what was it that really brought this revelation to me lately? His flip flops! The other day I needed to walk outside and couldnt find mine quickly. I saw his and thought, “Hmmmm, I can slide his on and know that at least some of my foot will be covered on the bottom.” In goes my foot. OH MY GOSH – they fit. PERFECT!! They were not too small or too big. I cannot believe that my lil man has the same size foot as his grown mom! Just to verify – I took a picture of one of my flip flops and one of his flip flops side-by-side!
I will need to be careful. I will blink my eyes soon and he will be completely grown! Running out the door!! Have an awesome day and thanks for reading.
One of the issues we have had with our “condo” is that there is no privacy at all. This is something that we all take for granted when we live in a house, apartment, real condo, or anything with more than 1000 sq ft of space. lol OK, I would love to have that much space. hehehe
One of the places where we have a lack of space is the bathroom. There is absolutely NO room in the bathroom. This is how it goes: I take a shower, wrap a towel around me, yell out to son to close his eyes, run to the bedroom area and quickly change then yell to my son that he can open his eyes. Well, I am tired of doing that.
We have found a really good solution to this. I purchased a shower rod that expands by twisting it. I then found curtains that hung almost down to the floor. I was able to put it up right as the hallway starts. Right before the bathroom and right where the closet starts.
When I decided to go take a shower, I make sure that these curtains are pulled closed. I also take the closet door that is closest to the bedroom and open it, then take the bathroom door and open it so it creates a barrier. This opens up a few more feet of space for me to get out and dry off and put clothes on. Most of the time, son is in the bedroom watching TV or playing on his tablet.
Life in a camper is interesting. You make the best of it. You find little ways to create what you need/want while living the journey that you are on. This is just one of the little “joys” I have created for me to give me the privacy that I so very much desired. Well, I must be running now. Thank you all so much reading and have an awesome day.
Well, here we are. At the casting center for hubby. Son and I are waiting for him. This is just the next step in the hiring process for him. They are scheduling his physical today and will send him out for drug testing. We hope his hire date will be in the next few weeks so he can tell the other place goodbye.
i know, it has been a few changes lately. Just to recap, he was doing phone sales for a hotel chain and they totally lied about the commissions. He left there and went to a car dealership doing sales, but their training has kept him off the floor and not able to make any sales. However, the pay has been a little better than the hotel sales.
He has been trying to get hired on here, but they drag their feet. Now he is in the second process. When he comes out, he should have a start date. It’s not in the department he wants to be in, but who cares? He just wanted to get his feet in the door. Yay!!
I so didnt want to get up this morning. Not for a while anyway. Hubby had to run to the grocery because we were out of half and half and needed that for our coffee addiction. lol While there, I told him to go ahead and pick up a cucumber and purple onion.
I was thinking all day yesterday, while sitting at the filming set, just what was I going to do with those little tomatoes that I picked the other day. Thats when it hit me that I could make a summer salad. Not one with lettuce, but just tomatoes, purple onion and cucumber.
This morning, I took all the tomatoes and halved them. We had nibbled on a few through the last few days. Wish we would have had a few more to add to my salad. I took the purple onion, sliced it in half and then thinly sliced and added to the tomatoes. I then took the cucumber and sliced it in half and cut into more halves. That was added next. I took about a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and added to about 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil and shook those two together. Once they were mixed, I added it to my tomato mixture. I also added about a teaspoon of Cayenne pepper, a half teaspoon of pepper and salt, a dash of dill, parsley and dried cilantro. I also added a single serving pack of truvia. I like it to be spicy and a little sweet – but not overbearing. I put this all into a bowl that as a top. I put the top on it and shook it really well.
Poor hubby was confused and asked if that was breakfast. HAHAHA No silly, its for lunch!! I dont know why, but after 13 years, I am not sure if I have ever made this for him. He asked for a bite – just to make sure it was good. We both took a small bite then I put it in the fridge to cool. Its best to me if it chills before eating. It passed the husband test and this is what we will have for our lunch today. This will make my tummy a happy girl!
We might go to the pool after lunch today. Other than that, its going to be a lazy day. Son told me last night, “Mom, I am tired.” I asked him why he was so tired. “Because mom, I worked hard today!” I told him that for most of the day, he was sitting in a school desk being filmed. His response, “Yeah, but thats hard work!” He had a blast filming the last few days. The director came to me yesterday when we got there and told me just how well he thought son did the day before. He was really happy with the few lines that son did say and thought he was great at improvising. He thought son has a funny personality and should continue to follow his dreams. He came to me after filming and reiterated it for me. I also had another person come to me and tell me the same thing and tell me that I REALLY need to branch out to other areas (other states) and see if we can find representation there. So, in the next week or so, I will probably start shopping his headshots out to other places. She is like the 20th person in the business to tell us that. I know that it was a student film, but it was really nice to have someone verify what we have either already be told or have been feeling.
Well, I am going to go and spend time with my two favorite guys! Hope you all have a great Sunday and thanks for reading.
Hi everyone. This one will be quick today. I am at our second day of filming for my son. He was called into a student film on Thursday for filming today and yesterday. He is an extra – which is fine because he gets experience. But a friend of his from acting class is the lead. She is a cutie pie.
Here is a picture on set. Sorry they are a little hazy – the sun was coming in on me!
Hope you all are having a great weekend and thanks for reading!
I wanted to talk about a birthday gift that I received from my friend. She really spoiled me while here. I have a core group of friends that I am so grateful for and I know who they are. She is one of my true friends. Love ya girl!!
She gave me a make-up bag that had a lip gloss, shower poof, shower gel, nail file and tweezers. I admit – I lose tweezers all the time. I dont know how many I have purchased through the years. But these are too darn cute! The lip gloss – oh my! It is fresh cream flavor. I put some on and kissed my hubby and stuck! It is thick and some might say gooey like glue, but it makes my lips feel so good. The shower gel is also fresh cream and it made my skin feel oh so soft. It smells really good too. All of this was from Philosophy. I have never bought from them before, but know that I have tried their product – I am a new customer.
Yesterday, son and I went to the pool for a bit. It was so nice out. After about 45 minutes in the pool, I did start to get a little cold. As we walked back, I remembered that when our neighbors went back to Canada, they told us that they had planted peppers and tomatoes and that we could have them. Son and I decided to stop by and see if there were any still on the vines. Oh my goodness! There were a lot of little green ones that I left. There were a lot that had turned yellow and some were red. I went ahead and picked all the ones that had turned. There were a few peppers too, but more tomatoes. These are the perfect size to put into salads. I am going to go back over in a few days and see how the others are doing.
Well, son was told at the last minute that he was wanted for an extra in a student short. This is great experience! He will film later today and tomorrow. I have a lot that I need to do before we go. Thank you all for reading and have an awesome day.
One of the other bloggers that I read posted a challenge on her blog and I kinda wanted to follow. Of course, it wants you to post pictures of a group or groups. But I always feel bad about posting pictures of someone without asking permission. So I am going to post a few of my favorite pictures that I have taken through the years.
The first one I am posting is from a trip to Walmart. Of course, I am a sucker to look at the clearance section. All I can say is, thats pretty cheap to become SUPER MACHO!!! Wonder what the price was for just plain ole macho??
The next one is about 3 years ago when I was taking my son trick-or-treating. He walked and walked and walked and got kisses from every dog in the neighborhood. At one point, he looked over at me and said, “Im tired!” and just sat down in someones driveway. Ummmmm, ok Mr!! Just have a seat then. HEHEHE He sat for about two minutes and was ready to go. Loved the neighborhood too. Every street had someone who was giving out little bottles of water straight from an iced cooler. Nice cool water in FL – SCORE!
Then, its not that these are my favorites – but one of my favorite guys are in these. We just had sons headshots done. These are now his new professional pictures that will be used during auditions.
So, the originator of the challenge asked for a ping back to his site, and I had to look it up how to do it. lol This is his site! Check it out. Hopefully I did that right.
We are on our way to the pool. Have an awesome day everyone and thanks for reading.
About a month ago, one of my friends told me that she was bringing her beautiful daughter here to visit Disney. She usually visits about twice a year and does this all on free money! Its amazing. She goes onto a website and lets her phones run through videos and earns money while the videos play. She usually stays in a Disney hotel and does the packages where she gets free dining. She purchases her plane tickets the same way. She never puts any of her own money into her vacations. She turns her online money into Walmart gift cards. Then she takes them to Walmart and changes them in for Disney Gift Cards. Its the Disney gift cards that pays for the vacations.
When she told me last month that she was coming to visit, she also told me that she was going to pay for hubby, son and I to stay in an off-property hotel for one night near Disney. Ummm – COOL!!! It was all for my birthday. So we decided to stay the night before my birthday. About a week ago, she sent me the confirmation and I knew exactly where it was. I knew it was an older hotel, but was undergoing a lot of refurbishment. On Monday, April 18, son and I went to her hotel while hubby was at work. I picked up her and her daughter and took them to Walmart for a few food items for their room. This is another way she goes to Disney on a budget (they didnt have the free dining this time). They have a fridge and put salad, sandwich stuff, etc, in it.
After we went to Walmart, we went to our hotel so that I could go ahead and check in. We were at the Celebration Suites which is right beside Old Town (a place with lots of restaurants, bars, and amusement type rides).
When she reserved it, she went through Last Minute Travel. When we went to check in, they wanted a $75 deposit by credit card or a $125 cash deposit for incidentals, etc. Well, I dont have a credit card and didnt have that much for a cash deposit. There was also nowhere on the confirmation that there would be any type of deposit. After about 20 minutes or so, the manager (who was manager in name only and not able to make a customer service decision) received word from the general manager that they would only require $50 in cash and promised to give it back (in writing) the next day. The lobby was nice and across the way was a little cafe. We did not go to the cafe, but it was there and open during specific hours. Pictures are from the lobby area.
I paid the deposit and we were able to go to the room. We both were very surprised. The room was in good shape. You could tell that they have been working on the bones of the hotel and the room looks as if they had also refurbed them. The rooms were really clean, and that was important to me.
The living room was a nice size with a tv, 2 chairs, a sofa and a murphy bed. Of course, son absolutely LOVED the murphy bed and decided this is where he would sleep. Little did he know – we had already decided thats where he was sleeping. lol
The kitchen was huge – especially compared to what we have now. lol There was a full size refrigerator, 2 burners, a microwave and a coffee pot. Hey – coffee is important! I opened the cabinets to see that there was ceramic plates, bowls and saucers. There was also plastic (not the cheap throw aways) cups and silverware. They had a cutting board, manual can opener, knife and serving spoon and spatula. In another cabinet they had a few pots and pans. Sweet!!!
Not going to go on and on about a bathroom. They are all the same! It was a nice size and clean. They gave plenty of towels for use and had shampoo and soap. Wish they would have had conditioner as well. My hair is long and conditioner helps with tangles.
The bedroom, which had a door to close it from the kitchen, was HUGE! There were two full size beds, a vanity with sink, a closet and another cabinet of some sort. Plus a TV. The beds and bedding seemed to be in good shape. The bed was comfy. A little more firm than I care for, but comfy.
One thing with this hotel is that there was absolutely no carpeting in our room. I was scared that son was going to knock a plate off the table and break it. lol We also had a huge patio off the back of our room. We parked right at our patio. I went inside the room, opened the sliding door and we brought everything through that way.
I had made a pasta salad earlier in the day for our dinner. We had also stopped by the store and bought milk, soda, etc, for us to have while in the room. Please people – do not EVER send a hungry woman into a grocery store. hehehe Once we had everything put up in the fridge, we changed into our swimsuits and headed to the pool. It was about 4 rooms down from where we were staying. The pool had a handful of kids in it. Hubby and I were going to get in it – but our temps had fallen and the water was just too cold. Our temps were in the low 60s at night. Plus the sun was starting to go down. Son jumped right into the pool was just happy, happy, happy!
The next morning, we were going to go to the pool, but the temps were low 60s. We were lazy and watched TV. I think I spent most of the morning typing “thank you” to all the birthday wishes on facebook. lol Hubby and son went and made me pancakes and coffee for breakfast. This was a nice treat since I am the one who usually cooks. After breakfast, we put all the dishes into the dishwasher and just left them there. Housekeeping will come through and actually wash them. We got ready and went to check out. They had to do a room check to make sure we didnt have some sort of crazy, wild party so that I would get the deposit back. It took them a good 20 minutes to do the check. We got our $50 and were on our way out. It was about 1130am at this time. Hubby decided to stop at Starbucks since the in-room coffee was weak.
We went to my friends hotel and rode the Disney bus over to Disney Springs. She treated us to lunch at Earl of Sandwich. If you have never had their sandwiches – you are missing out. The bread is oh so good. Its not dense or hard. It is soft and very airy. Just the way I like it. We sat there and talked for a bit then headed out and walked around Disney Springs. After walking around there for a bit, we headed back to her hotel and sat and talked for a bit. Its so nice to have adult conversation – and I know she feels the same. We finally left and headed back to our little condo on wheels. She is going to be here for a few more days and I know they are going to have a blast.
Hubby had one more surprise for me. For dinner, he and son took me to the little Mexican restaurant across the street. He had a gift card that he was holding back on me!! lol All in all – it was a very nice birthday and I am so glad I was able to spend time with my friend. That made it the best!
I am slacking today. Son just came and reminded me that he has not had lunch yet. Hope you are all having a great day and thanks for reading.
