Would you like to report your debit card lost or stolen?

Ummmmm, YEAH, try stolen.  Ok, we really have no proof, but we think it was stolen.  After I tell this story, tell me what you think.

So, on  my dads birthday, we ended up at Olive Garden using gift cards that hubby had won through work.  We had enough to almost cover our whole bill.

We went to the one over by Disney since we had been in that area (we eventually ended up at Disney Springs walking around before dinner – one of the many places we went that day).  It was about an hour before closing time.  We sat down and had a very personable, young lady take care of our order.  We had told her we had been all over central FL and were really tired.  Probably not the best thing to say.

We ordered and everything was going great.  The food was good and the server was attentive.  We really had no complaints.  Of course, it was too much for us to eat, so we put our leftover food into boxes.  The bill came and hubby saw that we owed a little over $3.  His gift cards covered almost the whole bill.  He handed her the gift cards and his debit and said, “There is enough on the gift cards to cover all but the $3 and your tip.  Please put the $3 on my credit card and I will put the tip on it too.”  She said ok and ran off.  They were closing and we were exhausted.  She came back with the receipts and he signed their copy and put the tip on it. All this time, she is talking and joking around with us.

We got up and were walking out.  He then turned around and asked about the little chocolate mints.  They had not given us any and he just wanted one.  So another server said, “Here, I will give them to you since she didnt take care of you.”  She gave him about 20. OH MY! lol  She then saw the shirt hubby had on and started laughing and joking around about it.  His shirt had “Just Another Sexy Bald Guy” on it. lol

We left out, got home put the food in the fridge and went right to sleep.  Yesterday, we decided to go and get some milk since we were out.  Hubby opens up his wallet and (with a shocked look on his face) asks where his debit card is.  Heck, I dont know – its your wallet.  We tore the “condo” apart looking for it and the van.  It was nowhere to be found.  After we thought about it, she never put it back in the little folder that they had you the receipts to sign.  When we first discovered it gone, I called Olive Garden and spoke with someone. They checked the safe and did not see it.

After we searched, hubby called back and spoke with the manager and general manager.  They called the server at home and said that she said she gave it back.  They have not located it at all. So, if they dont have it and never gave it back and we dont have it, then where is it? We called the customer service line for our bank last night and canceled the card.  They are sending a new one.  We assume that she took the card AND if she meant to use it for gas or anything – she is going to get a surprise!  We have read where servers will take the card number and use them a few days later.

Honestly, I dont know if she took it or if it accidentally dropped somewhere and she didnt know it.  All I know is that it was not with our receipts when she brought them to us. Now that we think back, she never  brought it back to us and we were so tired – we didnt catch it.  We have been monitoring our account, and so far – nothing unusual has posted to it.  We both were like, GREAT!!  Only US! lol  So, what are your thoughts and should I write corporate about it?  Now that I have looked into it, that area has had many break-ins with cars.

Well, hubby did get the job that he interviewed for. It is commission based, but it is a very familiar territory for him – so he should do good.  He is using it as a stepping stone to move up or use it until he can get something better.  Just keep us in prayer with the whole job situation.  He is being drug tested today (no problem there) and as soon as they get it back, he will be able to start work.  He did quit the other job last night.  We found out things about that job that were just shady – but thats for another day.

I have breakfast dishes I need to wash. Ugh, a mothers job is never done. lol  Have an awesome day everyone.  Thanks for reading.

I think it may be a simple case of the card being misplaced. As long as you turned off the card and see no fraudulent activity, I personally wouldn’t call corporate since there seems to be some confusion on where it could be and who took it. Just my two sense. For what it’s worth, I lost my entire wallet at a store and went through the same.

Congrats on your husband’s new job!

Thank you. He has to wait until the drug test comes back, which should be Thursday or Friday. I’m going to have a few days with him driving me crazy. Lol

I want to believe that it’s a case of being misplaced. I tend to try to believe the better in people. But I know we are a little jaded with everything we have faced this past year. I appreciate your input. We will not contact corporate, but I don’t think we will go back there either. Just too many car break ins within the past 6 months. But hey, we ate at Olive Garden for $14 of our own money! A little over $4 per person. Hehehe

Well done on a cheap meal out! I guess it is too hard to tell whether it was deliberate or an accident but maybe the universe reminding you to pay attention to your surroundings. We have had similar incidents lately, with me locking my keys in the car and hubby losing $30 out of his wallet! We were definitely being told to pay attention! 😩

Thank you!! We felt guilty for going out to eat, but it was so late. You are right, it is really to hard to know if the server took it or not. We have it cancelled and thats all that matters. If it was deliberate – they wont get anything from it. lol It has definitely opened our eyes to make us pay attention more. You know, it is so easy to get “lazy” when a million things have hit you within the past year. But it is no excuse, we still need to watch what is going on. Sorry about your incidents that have happened, but I guess you can be happy it wasnt worse. Lets both look on the bright side of these little situations. hehe

I’m glad your husband got the job he was trying for. I hope it ends up working out better for him than the last one. Will you be able to stay in the same place, or do you have to move to a different RV park? (I guess it would be easy to move an RV, maybe just time consuming?)

I agree, at this point, it doesn’t matter at all what happened to the card. If it is cancelled, no one can use it; whether it was lost or stolen–it won’t work. That’s the important thing, just annoying.

Well, it wasnt the one he went and stayed overnight for. He did not get that one. This one is back in a field he has worked in for years and has tried to get out of. The commissions will be a lot more than what he has been currently making. Where he has been at, we found out that the way they feed good leads to you is just inappropriate. If you made a sale one day, then the next day they would feed you a few more good, quality leads. If you missed a day, they would make sure you did not get a good lead. He just couldnt make any money there. Oh well.
I dont know if we are going to go to a different RV park or not. We are 10 minutes away from the job he will be doing, as soon as they receive the drug test back. They wont let him start until they get it back. He could pass it for the president. lol
He is still waiting for word from a really big company here in central FL about a physical before they will hire him, which will mean a steady paycheck. No commissions involved and a nice pay. But he has to be scheduled for the physical first, which could be at the end of this month. Its all stepping stones!
Yes, the whole card situation was just….. annoying! Still havent seen any other charges come through. lol
