The next step!

Well, here we are.  At the casting center for hubby. Son and I are waiting for him. This is just the next step in the hiring process for him. They are scheduling his physical today and will send him out for drug testing. We hope his hire date will be in the next few weeks so he can tell the other place goodbye.

i know, it has been a few changes lately. Just to recap, he was doing phone sales for a hotel chain and they totally lied about the commissions. He left there and went to a car dealership doing sales, but their training has kept him off the floor and not able to make any sales. However, the pay has been a little better than the hotel sales.

imageHe has been trying to get hired on here, but they drag their feet. Now he is in the second process. When he comes out, he should have a start date. It’s not in the department he wants to be in, but who cares? He just wanted to get his feet in the door. Yay!!

i hope it all works out. obviously these other jobs are not what is right for him and it is awesome he keeps looking for what is. What sort of thing would he be doing if he got hired? It looks interesting! 🌈

Thank you. The position would be for driving a bus. He would take people who are staying at their hotel to the parks and back to the hotel. It is just as a way to get his foot in the door until he can either work his way into management or into Info Technology (what his degree is in). The thing is that it is a weekly paycheck. Where he is at now, it is a very small “draw” against his commissions that he makes. The draw is paid back when he gets his commission check at the end of the month. That is – when you are actually selling something. The place he is at requires you to go through 4+ wks of training before they will even let you try to sell something and then you have to do it with their top sales person for 2 wks. Hubby has sold cars before (most of his adult life before going to college) and has more experience than the top sales person. lol So they have held him back from even making any money other than the small draw which hardly covers our bills. At least with Disney – once he is out of training, he will be able to make over time. As much as he wants. Thats going to help us financially in the long run. He will continue to look until he finds what is perfect for him. He has applications in with the postal service as well. A few weeks ago he had to take a test with them – and passed. From what I understand – they could take weeks or months to call, but he might get a call from them too!! lol At this point, its going to be whoever pays the most.

I know everywhere has flaws, but to me it would be fun to have access to the parks as one of the side perks of this job. It sounds like a steady paycheck would beat commission draws all to pieces. And, it looks like he still has some other prospects as well. I hope he gets something that will meet your needs soon.

It is a great perk. I worked for them ages ago (2 yrs) and loved that perk. I then went on to work at another theme park company for 6.5 yrs before I had son.

Yes, it would be a weekly paycheck – which would be awesome. The car dealership gives a draw, but then they take it out of the commissions at the end of the month. He is on the sales floor today to sell cars – the first time since he has worked there!! The draw is just a little bit more than what he was making at the hourly wage at the hotel chain that he was at.

It has been an adventure so far! We had to leave our apartment and move to a different town before he could even start to find jobs. He is using each and every one of them as stepping stones until he gets to the one he likes. His background check came back clean (as if it wouldnt. lol) and now they need to schedule him for a drug test. After that comes back it will be the physical. Once he starts, it will be 8-9 wks of training, then he can put in for overtime. I have already talked to someone who works in that department and he told me that overtime is definitely there! This is going to help us soooo much.

Then there is still the other place that sent an email that they are doing background checks, etc. I think things are finally looking up a little!
